about
Davy Graham was a pioneer of alternative and
open guitar tunings, notably DADGAD,
which he started to use in the early 1960s during
a stay in Tangier, Morocco.
It’s said that Davy came up with the DADGAD
tuning because he found standard guitar
tuning unconducive to jamming Arabic
tunes with the local oud players. ‘
Maajun’ is based on a melody he
encountered in Tangier and
featured on his 1964 LP ‘Folk, Blues & Beyond…’
